DigiSource offers coding services locally in addition to strategic relationships with selected coding vendors.
The first step in undertaking a coding a project is to perform a Database design meeting which covers the
specific criteria that will need to be gathered during the coding process. Typical information discussed
during the design meeting is:
- Quantity and type of documents
- Case history or summary
- Information to be captured (field descriptors, database design)
- Authority lists (i.e., doc types, characteristics)
- Document Unitization (Physical vs. Logical)
- Names list (if possible)
- Contact names
- Invoice information
DigiSource has the capability to customize field structure. Generally, our standard Bibliographic
Coding consists of the following fields:
- Beg/End Image Numbers
- Beg/End Bates Numbers
- Attachment Bates or Image number range
- Document Type (maximum of 20)
- Date (estimated when not available)
